The Committee on Foreign Affairs and Portuguese Communities carries out its functions in matters concerning foreign policy, international cooperation and development aid and the Portuguese Communities. This Committee will therefore have an enhanced role during the Portuguese Presidency of the European Union, namely with the organisation of COFACC on 8 th and 9 th October 2007, innumerable meetings with delegations from other national parliaments and the European Parliament and with the parliamentary scrutiny of the Government’s work in the areas of foreign policy, international cooperation and development aid.

We hope that during our participation in the Portuguese Presidency of the European Union, we can contribute towards the essential rapprochement with our citizens.
